Getting Promoted! :) Finally!

Yep finally getting promoted to Sergeant.

I joined the Marine Corps back in 2006 straight out of high school. Was promoted to Corporal 6 months before I finished up my 4 year contract on the active side.

I haven't done anything military wise for 2 years. So I decided to get my feet wet again. (Civilian life is quite boring most of the time)

So I went in with the intention to get some training in and to mentor the other Marines at the nearby reserve facility. With a possibility to get promoted.

After you get out your score will be active for one full year then it will later get reset to 0. You have to update your Physical fitness test and combat fitness test then your scores will be updated.

So I finally got my tests completed (which they didn't suffer at all) after being out for 2 years I only dropped 2 points from the last PFT and CFT that I did (haven't worked out at all since then lol)

So my scores finally updated mid December and i finally got selected just before the new year.

Your Cutting score is broken down into 7 categories.

Rifle range score max 300 points
PFT max 300 points
CFT max 300 points
Proficiency max 50 points
Conduct max 50 points
Time in service 2 points per month
Time in grade 5 points per month

I picked up with a score of 1751 which was 99 points over

Should be getting promoted on the 11th
That's when I go in to the reserve center for January's training. So we will see when I get back.

That is great to hear that you are getting promoted. I have to say thank you for serving. I retired from the Air Force reserve after 25 years of active and reserve as a E-8 (12 years active and 13 in the Reserves) in 1999. So keep on doing a great job from a retiree..
