An epic meet is coming: Lordstown Tour - Spring 2013

An epic meet is coming!
I spoke to Tom (Communications Manager) at Lordstown and he agreed to set up a tour for us CruzeTalk members at the Lordstown Assembly Plant. However, they are booked for the rest of this year, so the tour would need to be scheduled in the spring of 2013. Given this is so far in advance, it should give everyone plenty of time to plan to clear their schedules.


Limited Attendance:
Tom would like to keep the attendance at under 40 people. While I don't expect us to exceed that, it is entirely possible that we may, given the opportunity. Please state your intent to attend in case we do run into that limit. If we do reach the maximum number of attendees, any additional members will be put on a waiting list.

I will be there for this one. The date at this point is to be determined.


Discussion:
1. I need input on which month would be recommended for this meet. I was thinking March or April. Someone needs to look up historical weather trends for those months for this region.

2. Expect this tour to start in the late morning. We may need to book reservations at a local hotel. I need recommendations for a hotel that we can contact that may be able to give us a group rate.

3. I need input on what we can eat afterward and where. I was thinking of a BBQ. All we'd need is a park that has some grills (or someone who is willing to bring their portable grill), and we can divide up the list of foods and drinks we need and can all make a run to the grocery store. Typically, hot dogs and burgers work well.

4. I need input on what we can do afterward. We can hang around at the park (usually ends up in a great time for all from my experience), or go someplace else. Remember, these meets are about the people, not just the cars. It's the cars that bring us together, but we can spend all the time we want talking about them on this board. Putting a name to a face and getting to know people on a more personal level is what makes these meets so great.

5. I need input on a backup plan in case the weather doesn't cooperate. Is there an automotive museum nearby, or some other indoor activity?


You guys should know, based on my "epic thread is coming" result, that the end result is well worth the wait. Let's make this an epic meet.

As much as I would enjoy this, I will not be attending. Unless I suddenly become independently wealthy, my job and family ensure that I don't have time for a cross country vacation.

However, I eagerly look forward to pictures, videos, etc.

Only three hours from me, I am in. April is a bit better than March for that area. It is still quite nippy in March (although there is no road work going on in March for road trippers)
