Hello everyone! This is my first post here on the forums. I have been lurking for a while but decided to register.
I recently bought a new 2013 Cruze ECO A/T. I'm loving the car but had some questions about fuel economy. I'm trying to get the best MPG possible. So far my lifetime MPG for the car is around 28.## MPGs. I'm wondering how long it usually takes to "break-in" the car and achieve optimal fuel economy. I've read the sticky at the top of this form and have been trying to be light-footed. I'm wondering if any new Eco owners are getting similar MPGs. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!
It takes a couple thousand miles.
what is the persentage of HWY compared to City.
for me im getting 32 and thats at 95% city travel. i also have just under 30K on the car
try regapping your plugs to .035 many members have seen a improvement in overal performance and mpg
you can also inflate your tires to 45 psi and that will help alot.
also useing the highest octane is a plus on the 1.4 turbo
Side note have you changed your break in oil yet? if your over 1k you need to.
Your fuel economy should increase over time. It takes about 10,000 miles to break in. Some general tips for increasing fuel economy are as follows:
-Control the jackrabbit!
-Make sure your tire pressure is at or above the recommended level
-Use cruise control on the highway
-Stay under 70 mph on the highway
-Keep your vehicle well-maintained
Some other things that will increase your fuel economy are modding your car. While modding exclusively for fuel economy does not make sense financially, things like a tune or intakes increase performance AND fuel economy which helps justify the cost!
I have about a 16 mile one way commute to work which is about 80% highway and 20% city driving. However there is usually traffic on the highway during my commute. Overall I do about 60% city and 40% highway. My car only has 830 miles. I'm planning on getting an oil change in 200 miles.
I'm trying to break some bad habits from my teen years. My first car was a 2002 Camaro. Needless to say I had a lot of fun in that car. Driving the Cruze ECO has made me realized how inefficient my driving was. I'm trying to train myself to be very "delicate" with the gas pedal.
Regardless, does 28 MPG sound "normal" for an ECO with only 800 miles?
28 MPG is a little on the low side for the ECO A/T even during engine brake in. Take a look at http://www.cruzetalk.com/forum/blogs/xtremerevolution/ for a link to his guide for better fuel economy. He also has some really good info on other topics there.
I average around 28-30 MPGs on the MPG "Average and Best" feature on the DIC. This is for the 50 mile scale. My best is 39.4MPG but I haven't hit that in a few weeks.
I would like to congratulate you on your new Cruze! I would also like to welcome you to the forum. This is the right place to get information on your Cruze, as you can already see! I am always here and happy to help in any way that I can so please feel free to contact me anytime with any questions, comments or concerns that you may have. Enjoy your Cruze!!
