    40mpg?

So as i become more familiar with this forum, i am seeing a lot of your mpgs in your fuelly that are at least 40mpg and many that are over that. However i am yet to hit 40mpg with my 2011 eco. The best i have been able to accomplish is 38mpg on an all highway trip. Now I realize that it is winter and mpgs are gonna suffer, yet i am currently getting around 32mpg and it is 70% highway and 30% city. I take it very easy on the car and very rarely exceed 67mph on the thruway. Are those of you who are getting above 40mpg tuned or have any type of work done? I am just a little disappointed seeing as how my wife's cobalt gets 30mpg when its an auto and she drives like a maniac lol. Any help would be appreciated thanks!!

How long are your trips? Is your Eco an automatic?

Also, for an Eco manual, fuel economy is best at 62 mph and under. The difference between 62 mph and 65 mph in an Eco manual is pretty dramatic.

When I saw your screen name of Cruze572 I thought you might have the big block option.

Personally I drive 72-75MPH usually and I achieve MPGs in the 42-50 range on the highways and a combined MPG calculated on fill ups of 37-44. I did notice a dropoff when my tires had gone below 34 PSI. I also have a 2012 though.

My 2 worst tanks were in the past month when I got like 36 and 38 mpg while having my snow tires on and driving in 1 blizzard and a bunch of stop and go traffic. Put my OEM tires back on last week and am back up to 42.2 on last tank. At 67 mph I am right at 40-42 mpg but at 62 mph I can get right around 46-48 mpg on level ground. Oh....not tuned OP!

Added: Rostra cruise control, Vent Visors, K&N SRI, OEM fog lights, mud flaps & tint.

2011 ECO MT - tuned. Got 48.5 mpg on Thruway @ 72 mph (calculated actual - not DIC) between Syracuse and Albany with passenger and luggage this past October. Is your car broken in? How many miles on the odometer?

I am only averaging about 30 mpg on my 2012 Eco with AT and no tune, but I have hundreds of pounds of stuff in the trunk, drive a lot of hilly terrain, and do a mix of city, suburb, and highway driving. I have yet to get my Cruze on a long highway trip, but I am confident I can break 40mpg even with the full trunk (I am a service tech) based on some short stretches on the highway after having just filled the tank and reset my trip odometer.

It definitely makes a difference how fast you go on the highway and from what I've read, the "sweet spot" for mpg's varies with model year and engine/transmission configuration. Sounds like you will have to find yours. Even VERY minor changes in driving style can make a big difference. There's taking it easy, and then there's taking it easy to the extreme.
