    Lightbulb "sri"

Ok heres my question just out of curiousity... i had a 2005 jetta which i bought a kit for a "SRI" at a local parts shop, it wasnt like the full KN or injen kit it was just a different aftermarket kit that i put a K&N cone on - well it worked great i was wondering why no one has done this with their cruze, is it different because of the MAF sensor? the price difference is extreme. KN/Injen - roughly $250.00 | the set up i had on my jetta - roughly $75.00

Well I think that the position of the maf sensor is one factor and how far it is from the filter is another factor but not sure.

can i ask what you used? possibly pictures as well? i was highly interested in doing this, as i dont want to spend 250 on a sri... seems steep if you ask me. Howd your set up go? with the MAF sensor etc, whatever you ran into really... any info is great as i problably have the same store locally near me i could do the same.

I used spectre parts from Autozone. The maf adapter I ordered on eBay. I will get a full list and pictures when I get home.

Because for $41 the stock setup will work just as well or better.

Resonator bypass + panel filter = IATs about 3* above ambient and low restriction, with a near stock sound (or lack thereof, which i prefer for a grocery getter).

    brand name parts = quality

    k&n is well worth it

ive seen specter plastic intakes melt and the "silicone" crack. if your going to invest in your ride, do it properly.

This was my concern to I paod 20k for this car I'm not pitting cheap parts on it. Now a $2500 civic then yea cheap parts are the way to go.

Here is a list of what I used:
Spectre air filter oiled - red to match my car.
    2.5" to 3" silicon coupled - red
    3" 90deg bend
    3" 60deg bend
3" maf adaptor with 2.75" velocity tube.
Bracket made out of spare aluminum angle I had laying around.

This spring when it warms up I will be painting the whole assembly in red heat resistant paint.

I could not see myself spending 250 plus on an intake, and that is why I decided to fabricate my own version.
