    BOV open at idle?

So im working on my car, and i noticed that during idle the Forge BOV valve is 25% open!

So i rev'ed the engine and the valve appears to be working properly / moving freely. Also i figure the BOV is not pushing out air but sucking in air at idle.

My best guess is that the intake manifold has a vacuum at idle where pre-throttle blade the pressure is neutral, so the vacuum is pulling the BOV open.

    What do you guys think?

Do you have an atmo or recirc?

I'd say that there is a leak because the the vacuum should come from the solenoid instead of the manifold directly. Your thinking does make sense though, but obviously something is wrong. I'll have to check mine and see if it does the same thing. I tried to call forge but they're closed ATM.
    Different.

Hm, it doesn't look like mine is sucking air in, but I do hear a sucking which I believe is the IAC. I put a peice of paper next to the BOV and i didn't move. I have an atmo BOV.

I also have the atmo BOV, could you see if the valve was open?

Didn't look. You using a mirror and looking through the vent holes?

What is your engine idling at?

I just used a trouble light and i could see that it was open. Idle is at 600 rpm.

note that the valve firmly closed when the engine is off...

Wow, good find, sir. I checked mine and I can see it is open. This is very concerning. I'd rather not get crap in my turbo compressor wheel...

Also, I don't see any solenoid on the vac line so I think it's a direct tap which would make sense on why we're seeing what we're seeing.

Can you guys explain exactly how these BOV/BPVs work? I wonder if my Forge BPV is also open at idle but not sure how I could determine that.

This is completely normal behavior. Cat warm up is the cause. My LNF Cobalt does this also during the cat warm up cycle.
