Be careful with lightweight pullies, Most vehicles have the heavy pulley to dampen the harmonic vibration the engine causes (Harmonic balancer). While they free up some ponies they also cause more wear and tear on the motor which will reduce engine life. Some made by Fluidamper or from ATI will keep the balance correct. It isn't going to cause engine failure or anything like that, but just file it in the memory banks if you do it that you may shorten the service life of the engine

Good point! There are 2 scenarios, I believe:
i. there's a harmonic balancer separate from the crank pulley. In that case there is no issue, as long as that is kept
ii. It's built in to the pulley, in which case I would not want to do this mod

A friend of mine who i raced with lightened up his flywheel/pullies (Mazda) , now he can't shift with the A/C on. When he opens the clutch the engine drops to idle like a rock.

I like to run time trials, I do not believe this will help. I would go for a solid engine mounts and lighter flywheel / clutch if i wanted a few tenths.

Most of the time these light weight pulleys do have some increase in power, mostly due to the fact they change the size of the pulley from stock decreasing the load at any given RPM.

By doing so that means things like your alternator are not putting out as much as normal at the same RPM, if your easy on your car that means it may not be charging enough at idle. With as many computers as the cruze has why risk it for 1-5hp at most?
