I need your help here. I have a 2012 cruze eco manual car. The car battery has died twice on me. When I want to start the car, it won't start. The battery voltage read only 10v. I jump started it, it was fine as long as the car running, the voltage of car is 14 v while running. It went to 10 v after 10 minutes I turned off the car. I wanted to take out the battery to test, However, there is a 'circuit head' on top of the battery, which I could not get it off.
Could anyone show me how to take out off the battery?
I'll bet thats the original battery too. 438CCA? Mine failed as well, before 2 years was up. Took it to a dealership. They took the battery out of the car, and put it on a load test machine. Showed 0. The tech said, it was a cell in the battery that had gone bad, and the only thing you can do, is to replace the battery. $160 bucks later, new battery installed, and all was good. Oh, and the battery was a newer model, with a bit bigger CCA. (460 I think)
You can jump start your car with a completely dead battery as long as current can flow through it. You're using another car to provide the cranking amps.
I noticed my battery (original) was really low on cranking voltage the other day, so I replaced it as well. I think group size 47, H5, and L2 are used interchangeably for the stock battery size, though H6 and H7 sizes will also fit in the tray. I just went with the cheapest stock size, which was an Energizer H5 at Sam's Club, and Wal-Mart sells the same one as EverStart for like $2 more. There's also an Excide size 47 battery at Home Depot at the $100 mark.
If you want a good battery that will last a long time, get an AGM battery. They run $160-180 retail at the auto parts stores, but there are often coupons of some sort available. The OEM AGM battery in my last vehicle was still going strong after 10 years!
I have watched the video you have provided. However that does not help. I am having the trouble to take off the 'cap' of the positive terminal of the battery. The video you have provided showed the battery 'cap' while the man was planning to take loose the positive terminal. But when he actually did it, he showed a different battery without the 'cap'. I also checked the video on youtube, unfortunately, it shows the 'cap' off as a whole piece, still not how it come off the battery
Remember to have that old battery load tested BEFORE buying your new one. There's the negative battery cable extended warranty on the 2012's.
There could be something going on with the cables, vs. throwing away money on parts not needed. Also check terminal connections.
I removed my factory battery, in an attempt to replace it. Took it to Sams Club, had it tested with the Miltronics big stationary tester, and it tested out fine.
Turns out it was connection related.
