It sounds more like a ballast issue than anything. The housings don't affect whether the bulbs turn on or not. The issue most likely has to do with the automatic headlamps. You need a digital ballast in order for the car to know what it's doing. Most likely you have a standard ballast which isn't igniting properly with the DRL.

The lights are purple due to your colour temperature of your bulbs. Anything above 5k starts going up the cold side of the Kelvin scale, cyan to blue to purple. I'd suggest a new HID kit.

I mean its an 8000K kit and the lights are blue my concern was the purple flickering when the first light up because I owned a 2010 Camaro with HIDs and they never did that but the HIDs were from the factory obviously.

OEM bulbs at 5000k. No purple at that low of Kelvin. Flickering is most likely just the quality and/or the type of ballast.

They won't flicker, but now you will have blue headlights. Not white with some blue: very blue.

Always always always run with a relay harness. This will protect the ballasts from all the voltage fluctuations. I can not remember the part number right off hand... but there are a few companies that build relays with a built in 10 second delay. This will also prevent issues from flashing headlights and that sort of thing.

Flickering is more often than not the result of inadequate power wiring going to the ballasts. My headlight wiring harness upgrade mod was written specifically to overcome this issue with the stock halogen bulbs, which see significantly improved output on the new wiring than they do on the stock wiring.

It's not just a matter of the relay being used, but also a matter of there being a PWM signal for DRLs, which cause issues on startup. As noted above, the headlight wiring harness upgrade would solve this problem, but once you've done that, you'd really start to question whether or not you should even be attempting to run HIDs given the improvement in lighting you'd get from the mod and a higher output halogen bulb like a Sylvania XtraVision or Philips Xtreme Power bulb.

As a fair warning to everyone, HID bulbs are illegal and unsafe.

Off hand question slightly, but are we working with dual filament bulbs here? I have a DDM Tuning HID kit I ordered for my Cruze but it doesn't look like they sent me the right bulb. Or I asked for the wrong one. It seems our stock bulbs are dual filament meaning it's just one bulb for the high and low beams....
Might cause some issues for DRLs too

Just installed Morimoto elite 6000k bi-neon with 50w ballast and i can say its the best i have ever bought. the price is high but the quality is un mathed by anything else you can by. My previous hid kit would not fire on the right side and made this loud buzzing sound on the harness capasitor brick. Now is 100% awesome and there bulbs are top of the line. Lets just say if you want your problems to go away for good rewire the harness or just get a morimoto kit from the retro store
