    HID problem

This is only a problem during the day. In a previous thread I explained when the DRL's come on my HID's do not fire completely, they just flicker like crazy. Lately I have been just turning the headlights on even during the day to avoid the flickering. Now I notice that when I turn them on only one headlight will light. When I first turn the auto control off and then turn the headlights on both will light. I don't understand what the difference is...if I manually turn them on they should come on whether the auto control is on or not. Anybody have a clue what the problem might be?

it's the auto control. it runs the DRLs during the day and they run at a reduced voltage which the HIDs do not like. when I left mine on it did the same thing. you have to turn the lights off during the day or run them in the on position. The auto control will only work at night when it runs the regular lights and not the DRLs. mine did the same thing where one light didn't work. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and its been fine since

My mom is having the same issue with her car. I installed a 55 watt 5000K kit and she loves it, when it works. I checked the grounds and everything is good. I keep reminding her to turn the auto lights off during the day. Now she says that only one is firing even in the on position after turning them on a off a couple of times.

Do these cars just not like the HID kits or what?

These are bran new ballasts, I can't see that they would be toasted already. This is my 10th HID install and none of the others are having any kind of issues. 6 of those installs are the bi-xenon bulb replacements.

idk, I'll look at them again on Sunday and see if I can figure it out.

I always turn mine off during the day. Always. Just insurance against this exact problem.

on GM cars with DRL's you HAVE to run a relay to the ballasts. the reduced voltage that GM sends from the drl circuit is rarely enough to turn on the ballasts, and if it is you will kill them pretty quickly because you are at the bottom of their operating range...

"HID relay harness" + google = solution

Its just avoiding loading the headlamp circuit and power the ballast from the battery. You use the original headlamp circuit as the trigger to turn the headlamps on....

I bought those black Spyder projector headlights with an HID conversion kit. I had to rewire a new connector in and with regular bulbs i have no issues but when i hook up the HIDs the bulbs flicker purple when they first light up but not after they are fully on and when the DRLs are either neither of the bulbs or at times only one of the bulbs is on and I cant figure out what can fix the problem if anyone has these headlights and knows of these problems please let me know thanks
