    Anyone need an ultra-compact subwoofer?

Parts-express.com has their TangBand subwoofers for sale at 25% off for today's "Deal of the Day." With a mounting depth of only 4-3/4" and a very powerful neodymium motor, this would be an excellent subwoofer to use if you are very limited on space, as it's an 8" subwoofer that would excel in very, very small boxes.

Not like the kind you'd put under your seat, unfortunately, but still small. I'm thinking two wedges that could be attached to the rear deck for a dual-subwoofer setup.

You're looking at 0.3 cubic feet gross volume per subwoofer for a sealed SQ box, or 0.6 cubic feet gross for a ported SPL box. This outperforms the Alpine 8" Type-R subwoofer that I've recommended in the past, at the same price while it's on sale.

If anyone is interested in a box design, let me know and I can design or build you a box for one or two of these. You're not going to find a subwoofer at this price that works so well in such a tiny box, and plays as loudly on so little power. Figure 150W-200W of clean RMS power per subwoofer.

If you are in the market for a very small sub, don't pass this up. I'm ordering 4 of these because I know I can make some very compact and out-of-sight boxes for these. Might even be able to make one fit under the dash right above the passenger's feet.

I can't vouch for this particular woofer, but Parts Express is a great company to deal with. I always make a point to stop in their showroom (A short ways North of Cincinnati) when I'm in the area. You can get some pretty cheap (with decent quality for the price) items from them. Never had any problems returning anything I had too and I always end up picking something up in their bargain section.
