XtremeRevolution helped design me a budget stereo system and also built me a bad ass box and front door baffles. He also went above and beyond with providing tech support during the tuning process. Here's a quick breakdown of what I'm running:
-Vifa tweeters
-Silver Flute Mids
-2 10" ImageDynamic IDQ10 D2s
-300 watt 4 channel Fosgate amp for the components
-1200 watt hifonics brutus mono amp to the subs
-MiniDSP
The tuning is all done now, and I've been listening to it now for the past few days and it's amazing. I'm not as hardcore of an audiophile as XtremeRevoultion, but I'm really picky about clean sounding systems. I'll admit I was skeptical this would all sound good while running through the factory headunit, but it has totally blown me away. I can turn the volume up to as loud as I can stand, distortion free and super clear highs, strong midbass, and deep low end. I listen to a lot of classic rock, punk, ska, modern alternative, metal and this setup plays everything with ease.
I did have some trouble getting the tune sorted out on the minidsp, but once you get the hang of it, the minidsp is very simple to use and all in real time. XtremeRevolution was also able to provide me with a tune file that solved all my issues. The amount of tuning potential with this unit is way beyond what any budget to moderate priced headunit I've ever seen. Plus I was able to make the entire setup very stealth. You can't tell I have any aftermarket equipment by looking in the cabin, only the trunk.
I have about $1200 invested in everything between sound deadening, all the hardware, wiring, speakers, box, and misc parts. It took a couple weekends of doing the install and making all the wiring look nice, but I was working slow. I'm sure I'm going to go deaf now, but I don't think I've ever heard as clean/tight of a SQ setup as what I have.
Moral of the story: BUY A MINIDSP.
