Dash lights aka LED lighting voltage

Has any one measured the voltage going to the back lights used in the car?

I want to add a few LEDs to light up the cup holder area, not sure if the run 12 volts to them or less.
I was going to tap into the PRNDL light next to the shifter so i could adjust them with the rest of the lighting.

Actually you can, either drop the voltage, or drop the current they can have. I have not looked at mine yet, but would not surprise me to find they wised up and used leds instead of regular lamps in the dash, but I could be wrong.
will find out this week end and let everyone know.

What about taking the power from the display above the head unit. It is also tied in to the dimmer. I'd Sopose it has a more around 14v and you can route the wire easier.

Measured at the connector for the PRND 3.6 volts lowest or dimmest setting, 8.6 volts brightest setting.

Custom Accessories - LED MICRO LIGHTS 12V

These are the leds I installed today, I used a 220k resistor with them but want to lower it to 100k they are just a bit dimmer than I wanted, but I can control the intensity with the cars dimmer switch.
    will post pictures later.
