Red face Surprised when changing headlights

The other day I replaced my factory light with Sylvania Xtra Visions(much improved lighting) I did the passenger side first plenty of room. When I got to the driver side, I was thinking how the @#@@# am I going to get this light out?!? More than a little tight! Until I found(this is why I surprised) washer filler tube is removable! Never saw anything like it before. I have always had enough room to remove the bulb or the headlight assembly was removable(Alero). If not just replacing a "sealed beam". Plenty of room just need good old t15 torx screwdriver Lights just don't burn out anymore as much as they used to!

The entire tube? I am going to have to remember this when I finally get new headlights and a harness.

you can do it with the tube in place too. Its much easier when they are warm though

    Hmmmmm...

Comprises of redesigned lens and higher wattage light source

Kinda makes me a bit leery of using them. Extra wattage = extra heat, and extra load on already inadequate factory wiring.

Let me know how it goes.

It's really only a 5 minute job with no need to remove anything. With the re-aiming (which can also be done with just a phillips screwdriver) you can really see a difference.

Added: Rostra cruise control, Vent Visors, K&N SRI, OEM fog lights and mud flaps.

OK I have already adjusted my lights using a screwdriver and decided to change the bulbs anyway. I really enjoy the improved lighting with brighter lights and readjustment. 100_0299.jpg100_0297.jpg100_0298.jpg
When I adjusted the lights, I just used the screwdriver but I was replacing the bulbs and trying to get the "unnecessary" plastic retainer clips (like the retainer clip put on the drum brakes to hold the drum in place until the wheel is installed) off in that much room is easier with more room! Here are the pix the headlight on the driver side. The manual says remove the clip(probably don't need to remove) and pull straight back they don't mention squeezing the harness to release from the bulb to remove. I look for the easiest way of doing things and without the tube in the way, surely seemed easier to me!! I am not a mechanic and I learn by doing. That is how I did it. If anyone knows of a better way let us know. Next time(if there is a next time) I will know how to do it better.

I replaced my bulbs too. 5 min taking my time and didn't feel the need to remove anything to gain access. Even with my huge mitts!

Not sure if this is common knowledge but you remove the plug from the bulb while the bulb is still in the headlight and then just twist to remove the bulb. Assembly is just the opposite.
