2012 Verano, Cruze, Sonic recall (airbag issue)

Just saw the article for this, So far its just 500 vehicles in Canada.

General Motors has issued a recall for three of its vehicles, the 2012 Buick Verano and the 2012 Chevy Cruze and Sonic, for an issue with the driver’s airbag.
In the case of a collision, the primary stage of the driver’s side airbag may not deploy, which can lead to serious injury or death. So far, the recall is only out on 500 vehicles north of the border in Canada, but will likely spread to the U.S. sometime soon.
Dealers will replace the airbag coil in the affected vehicles free of charge to the consumer.

If I remember correctly there was a CT member who reported an accident and his airbag didn't deploy.

Well, I suppose I shall be calling my dealership soon to discuss. I'll get the specifics as to why it's in Canada/what the exact problem is. This bums me out a little.

How would you go about finding if your car is effected?

If you're in Canada, wait a couple of weeks and then contact your dealership. If you're in the US, wait a couple of weeks after the recall is announced here and do the same. The reason you're waiting is for GM to get the affected VINs into the recall database that dealerships use to check for you.

Great, I hoped I could avoid taking it back to the dealer from here on out. But this sounds like a recall I'd certainly want taken care of if mine were affected, unlike that shield.

Let's hope my tendency to not hit things continues...

Early or late production 2012's? Mine's an early 2012, and I hope it's not affected. Oh well, I'll find out.

If it is affected, I'll be having this recall done. I didn't have the "hack your shield" recall done since the car will never see that situation.

Learn from the mistakes of others, so when you err it can be in new and interesting ways.

Not much info on this that I could find, just the article posted above which is the whole of the information provided
