    Well, guess what?

My wife called them back (remember this is all in Thai and my wife knows nothing about cars). The dealer said "oh yes, we know because we didn't change anything yet. The part hasn't arrived".

Apparently my wife asked "is the car done", and they said yes and she thought it was all done (they meant the oil change and warranty service + alignment). But they asked her before if she wanted to pick up the car because it was going to take a few days to get the parts. So, maybe they thought we just needed the car and we picked it up before the part got there.

Anyway, she said "you know this is still clacking and rattling", he said "yes, because the parking and the brakes work together". So he said as soon as the parts get there they will call us and install it.

Oi vey.... I really hope this turns out well because I already have the number of the dealer I am going to get the new car from.

The bad part is every car in this segment is either smaller, louder, or ugly. I don't want to get rid of it but I am done fixing it after this.

They are correct and unfortunately she misunderstood. Since the repair hasn't been done yet, you shouldn't have anything to be upset about. It isn't a safety issue so you can continue to drive it. I'm not trying to be a shmuck here, just pointing out they haven't done anything wrong this time......yet.

It isn't a safety issue? Beg to differ, if the gap on the right rear caliper is sufficient, applying the service brakes to close that gap would not have sufficient fluid so the left front brake won't work either. This will double the stopping distance of the vehicle.

Then if the left caliper increases the gap, won't have any brakes at all.

One thing that may work would be to rapidly fan the brake pedal to pump up the service brakes, that is if you have time. Didn't have this time a week ago when a young girl with her ear glued to a cell phone ran a stop sign. Then with a non-working parking brake, even loose that secondary braking. With only about 20-25% of the braking power coming from the rear brakes, won't even have that with a non-working parking brake.

It certainly is a safety issue, if it was my vehicle, would be parked until repaired.

yea. My idea was to leave it at the dealer until fixed, but I thought it was fixed. I've been driving nice and easy, but if this doesn't get resolved this week, I'm not comfortable with it being like that. I'll get rid of the car then because obviously Chevrolet Thailand doesn't know how to service their vehicles and I don't want to die inside a Cruze.

OK, but there was no complaint of brakes don't work correctly, pedal goes to the floor during braking, soft pedal or car pulls during braking. The complaint was clicking and rattling. As long as there was nothing loose (bolts) or broken, it isn't a safety issue.
Look I know it is frustrating. I have a good idea of what GM would tell you. I have had the wife park one of the cars and drive another one when I discovered something I consider amiss.
Without the brake complaints, a noise complaint is not necessarily a safety issue.

Apparently, you haven't been following this post and other that has been going on for a couple of months now. First with pads that were gummy up the rotors, a constant hand brake problem where one of the wheels wasn't even locking yp. The integration between the parking and service brakes, failure for the rear brakes to properly adjust.

Yes its a safety issue with all the signs, of stepping on the service brakes, and nothing happening.

Tomorrow is thrusday. Still waiting for the parts.

Not the issues for this thread, but if they actually fix that then we are on to the speaker that doesn't work (or wires) and the ticking of the AC fan. MAYBE the wind hissing on the freeway issue we all have.

But before that, brakes. If they can fix it, great. If they can't then this weekend I'm off to the Honda dealer.

I already talked to the bank today. They said I could pay off the loan whenever and if I wanted to pay early it would be a discount for me.

Also I already picked the color of the Civic. Urban Titanium Metallic 1.8E Navi model. By the end of this year I'll have my Cruze 100% exactly or I'll be driving a new Civic and never look back.

Ill post pics. I alreay have the name of the thread. "Life After the Cruze".

All this because of a relatively very simple problem to resolve.
