Smile Help in find a good price for a manual cruze eco around Austin, TX area

    Hi. Folks:

First time here. I have been driven a civic LX 4 dr for 10 years. Several days ago a lady in Mazda hit me in the back and totaled my civic. I am trying to buy a cruze eco manual around Austin, TX area. What is the fair price to get one. I am paying cash, I could also get the loan. My credit is very good and I think I qualify with 0% for up to 60 months. I studied edmunds.com and the price is $18,722 (True Market Value)+$795(Destination)+$49(Regional Adjust)-$1,000(Incentives)=$18,468.

I went to local dealer and the sales man made an offer $200 dollars less than $18,468. That is before TTL.

My question is: did I get a fair price? How much TTL will run to me?

    I am in Austin, TX.

    Thanks.

    Dan

Try carsdirect.com. That price seems a bit high for the 2012

TTL is tax, title, and license. It varies from location to location.

2012 ECO MT - Black Granite/Cloth; Bluetooth Stereo AUX; OEM Fogs w/Chrome Covers; GM Spare tire; VG Shark Fin
2010 Mit Lancer GT MT (traded for ECO @31K miles)
2002 Pont Montana AWD (traded for 2012 LS @182K miles)
1990 Pont Transport (traded for Montana @240K miles)
1986 Fiero GT MT (traded for Transport)
1985 Fiero 2M4 MT (traded for Fiero GT @8K miles)

I agree with giantsnation, that's high for a 2012 right now, especially if you're paying cash. Dealers are trying to unload their 2012s.

You should not have to pay more than invoice price at a dealership for a 2012 Eco Manual at this point. Back in January, I paid $18,500 for mine, which is $50 under invoice price, and that does not include any rebates or incentives. It was a completely "base" Cruze Eco, without the drive convenience package, any accessories, or the Pioneer sound system. If they won't give it to you for $18,500, find a dealer that will. Dealers should be willing to let these go for under invoice price at this point.

I'm thinking the price of the car is dependent upon the options installed on the car as well ... so if you're getting a 2012 Eco Manual with available options, say ... Driver Convenience pkg, fog lights, Navigation radio w/Pioneer upgrade, MSRP would be $21,395 after 1k incentive off, so I'd say that $18,226 sounds like a killer deal to me if the options are there. If it's a bone stock Eco Manual, then you're getting "boned"

$18,200 seems like a decent price before TTL. That's about what I paid (before TTL) for my then-just-out 2012 15 months ago. I was looking at 2011 Eco MT's, but some dealers were not willing to deal on them at all. So a 2012 ended up being significantly cheaper from a dealer who wanted to make a sale happen.

Don't give them any more than $18,500 for it...BEFORE rebates or incentives. GM pays for the rebates and incentives, and the dealer will still turn a profit. Shop around and create a price war with your dealers.
