    2013 Chevy Cruze LT1

I am considering buying this car. It has the turbo engine in it and has the RS package. Very nice. Is it true that the minimum MPG is 38? I'd really like to think that this car will get more than that. Does anyone know?

That sounds like the highway MPG rating. Depending on how much city driving you'll get fewer MPG.

You'll get about mid 30' MPG with the automatic trans.

Is the mid-30's all highway? I mainly use the highway everyday to work. My 2004 Buick LeSabre gets around 27 according to the gauge in the car.

All highway you'll probably get close to the EPA estimate initially and then it will improve.

My 2012 1LT automatic is averaging about 36 on the highway right now.It only has about 1300 miles on it so MPG's should get better as I break it in.

No city & highway if your driving mainly highway you should get upper 30's then I've had my 2012 LTZ for about 5 months I'm getting about 34 MPG and mostly drive city milies.

In a stick, the mileage keeps getting better on the highway as you put the miles on.

I don't care too much about driving slow to save gas, and I've gotten 44 mpg from my 1LT manual @ 70-72 mph over a 250 mi trip.

My lifetime average is over 30 mpg, which is impressive as I do mostly around town driving.

City rating is 26, highway 38. unless your doing tons of highway miles with little or no city driving I would not expect to get the highway MPG number. Most people seem to get in the 28-34mpg average with the automatic(cars window sticker is 30MPG combined, so that's pretty accurate).

With an easy foot & driving a bit slower you can get better than the window sticker on the highway. With cruze set at 45-65mph you can get above 40MPG with the automatic in relatively flat terrain.

You asked if 38 MPG is the "minimum". No, it's not. I'm sure you could get 15MPG if you keep your foot in it all the time. 38 is the EPA highway rating, and should be used only to compare to other cars. You can't even buy what the EPA uses to compare cars, they use it for consistent results. Some gas has 10% ethanol, which will lower your mileage. Winter blend fuel lowers your mileage. Some evidence shows 93 octane improves your mileage. Don't be one of the people who buy a car and complain they get worse than EPA rating. Also, you say your Buick gets 27, according to the DIC. They are less than accurate. Do the math for correct results, or set up a Fuelly account.
