  1. Oil leak problem

    Gen1 1.4L Turbo
The hose usually breaks or is already broken, so I'd just replace it. The water outlet, if not already leaking, is usually soon to follow.
  2. ‘14 with a rough idle, sluggish acceleration, “jumping” at stoplights

    Gen1 1.4L Turbo
Couple tests you can do for a head gasket...combustion gas test in the coolant, compression/leakdown when cold. There are like 5 other common leakers - the water pump, water pump outlet, thermostat housing, hose from expansion tank to side of motor, and the junction that hose plugs into...
  3. ‘14 with a rough idle, sluggish acceleration, “jumping” at stoplights

    Gen1 1.4L Turbo
You need a new negative battery cable
  4. DRL's on a 2018 question.

    Gen2 Audio & Electronics
Whole headlight assembly has to be changed. If you're under B2B warranty still, just take it in

Sometimes the PCV system can throw the P0299 turbo underboost code as well as others. If you still have the car, you can just have an auto parts store pull the codes for free so we know what's going on here. If P0171, P1101, and P0106 show up together, take that car back and have them...

Might be a vacuum leak. P0171 codes are usually thrown when the valve cover goes bad or the intake PCV check valve goes missing.
  7. Gen 2 heated mirror install

    Gen2 Audio & Electronics
I would pull the mirror cap off and see if the wiring is there or not, should be fairly easy to get into. The VWs without them still have the wire coming through the mirror. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  8. Gen 2 heated mirror install

    Gen2 Audio & Electronics
No heated symbols on mine either, but they are. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  9. Gen 2 heated mirror install

    Gen2 Audio & Electronics
All Gen 2's LT and up have heated mirrors that turn on w/ rear defroster. There's not a separate switch for them like there is on our VW. You can pull the mirror cap off to check if you want. Edit: switched LS to LT

P0299 won't harm anything, but that code's very common with these cars. Have them check that all boost hoses are tight at the clamps as well.
  11. Looks Like a Fuel Pump Change Next Weekend

    Gen1 1.4L Turbo
A fuel pump seems like a stretch. There are usually codes thrown if fuel pressure is less than expected. This sounds more like a sensor or air metering issue.
  12. Compression on 2018

    General Discussion
Those compression numbers are fine. What's the car doing specifically?
  13. Green coolant 1.8L engine

    Gen1 Service Issues
The life of most green coolants is ~3 years/36k. The life of Dexcool/HOAT coolants is ~5 years/150k. It's a fair bet you need to change it anyway.
  14. 2014 Cruze Eco Accidental Downshift

    General Discussion
If it's still running, everything's fine. There's a fuel cut off around 6500 RPM. It sounds pained, but it's likely fine. The engines can run >7000 RPM on stock bottom ends with upgraded valve springs.
  15. hesitation/stumbling

    Gen1 1.4L Turbo
This is usually a sign the check valve in the intake manifold has gone missing or is stuck. I have not seen a knock sensor code throw as a result of the ignition coil, but it wouldn't hurt to pull that back off and check that the springs are straight and that none look corroded. If there is...

Congrats. I've coming up on 3 years with mine and it's been the best car I've owned.

  19. Fluctuating Voltage on my 2012 Cruze 2LT

    General Discussion
It's a variable output alternator, as I said. Voltage fluctuation between charging/not charging IS NORMAL behavior for these cars when they have a good charge on a good battery. It does not have a power steering reservoir; these cars have electric power steering. There are other grounds in...
  20. Fluctuating Voltage on my 2012 Cruze 2LT

    General Discussion
All Cruzes have one. The rest of the symptoms make it sound like there's a bad ground connection shared between things, though.
