  1. 2012 ltz radio is shot, sell me one!

    General Discussion
It sounds like you have the same radio (color display) so the process will be the same even if the options are a little different. Yes, the dealer can do it.
  2. 2011 Chevy Cruze LS Power Steering Issue

    General Discussion
How old is the battery? Others have reported all kinds of issues that disappeared when a 2-3 year old battery was replaced.
  3. Passenger tail/brake light stuck on, driver side not working

    General Discussion
I don't have the book in front of me. Hmmm. That's strange. It may be that bulb has a bad ground in addition to the other problems.
  4. 2011 Chevy Cruze AC off due to high engine temp

    Gen1 1.4L Turbo
That's not supposed to happen. Either you really are overheating, or you have a leak. Where exactly is the steam is coming from? You may have a leak such that the engine can't pressurize the cooling system. If that happens, the coolant will boil. One thing you didn't replace is the...
  5. Is this the waterpump issue? W/ Pics

    Gen1 1.4L Turbo
Yup. Take it for a good drive to fully warm up, come home, shutdown, pop the hood, watch and wait 10 minutes. That's been my experience.
  6. Class Action Lawsuit

    Gen1 Service Issues
Like a lot of places, we tend to reflect the type of people who come here. Did any of us design for GM? No. Are any of us in a position to do anything? Just with our own cars. Really, what did you expect us to do? Bow down to your superior intellect? We want to enjoy our cars, not b****...
  7. 2011 Chevy Cruze AC off due to high engine temp

    Gen1 1.4L Turbo
Are you losing coolant? How much, how fast? Any sign of where it's going?
  8. Is this the waterpump issue? W/ Pics

    Gen1 1.4L Turbo
I'm not seeing it. Something that can lead you astray - the A/C has parts that get cold, condensate, and drip into that area. Make sure what you're looking it is really antifreeze and not water.
  9. Chevy cruze turns off while driving

    Gen1 Powertrain
I assume it was your mistake, not the dealers. Lots of places won't do returns on electrical stuff. Two things to look into: the negative battery cable. It's a known issue in the Gen 1. The other one is the ignition relay. Cheap part ($8?), easy to change(in the fuse box) One person here...
  10. for experts ONLY... What is the BCM identification??

    Gen1 Audio & Electronics
Good question. I don't think too many have taken their BCM apart. I'd start calling around to dealers and mechanics to see what they can do to help you out. They may not want to work with a part you source, since it reflects badly on them if it fails. However, they may have their own...
  11. Passenger tail/brake light stuck on, driver side not working

    General Discussion
That might have been what killed the BCM. With the BCM out of the car, I would apply 12V to each of the lines that don't work and see how much current it draws. The drawing you've supplied only shows the "tail light" half of the tail/brake light. I think the problem with that light being lit...
  12. Which one is economical?

    General Discussion
Depends on your driving. My understanding is that the diesel may not like being a short-trip errand car, but loves long highway trips. The other choice is the 1.4. I'm not sure as it's more economical than the 1.8, but I'm sure it's more fun and better optioned. (The Gen 1 1.8 is only...
  13. Passenger tail/brake light stuck on, driver side not working

    General Discussion
You sound like you're on the right track. While I can't rule out wiring, I do tend to think it's the BCM. Unfortunately, BCMs need to be programmed, so you're talking about buying an expensive tool or taking it to a mechanic.
  14. AC question

    Gen1 1.4L Turbo
OK, that's what I was looking for. As long as the signal is actually getting to the compressor (and not just relying on the computer to say it is), then you can be pretty confident it's the compressor clutch.
  15. Cruze clock

    General Discussion
I'd check all your fuses. It sounds like the radio is losing memory power when the car is shut down.
  16. Battery died, recharged, but will not attempt to crank

    Gen1 Service Issues
Although I'm sure it's been done, I'd disconnect the battery for 15 minutes or so and reconnect it. Do NOT connect any auxiliary source of power. What we're going for is a "power off reboot" of everything.
  17. 2013 cruise ..with 2 problems. 1 battery goes dead . 2 code c0800-03 control module psterring circuit

    Gen1 Audio & Electronics
The power steering is generally reliable. What I would suggest is that you make sure the driver's door is closed when you connect the battery. On my 2013, I'll get a warning light if it's open. That may or may not be related to the problem you're having, but it's cheap and easy to try.
  18. Generic AC Controls - Possibly Upgrade to Auto Controls

Gen1 Appearance, Body, Detailing, & Interior
I've got the fancier one, and I still set the fan speed. I think you need additional temperature sensors for the auto version.
  19. 2015 Cruze Accessories still On

    Gen1 Service Issues
I don't think RAP is a module, but a function of the BCM itself. Opening the driver's door shuts down most things, including the radio and the the power windows. Try this. Get in the car, close the door, start the engine, open the door. My car will have an alert in the DIC when the door...
  20. 2012 ltz radio is shot, sell me one!

    General Discussion
You have to open it up and clear the VIN from the radio. The programmer is pretty cheap. I think $5.
