I concur with this. Even in the Subaru world when 1 blows in 5 months, I still do both of them instead of just waiting for the other one to blow too. I may hold on to that old one for spare parts in the event I blow one on a turnpike run.

Agreed, that is what I thought. The bulbs are very expensive at the box stores at least in Cincinnati. It seems $30 is the cheapest at all the parts stores and I don't drive around with my brights on and it is something I noticed so I will replace when I get a chance.

I had a headlight go out a few weeks ago so so I replace the bad one with an old one and it seems that one of my bright headlight is higher than the other is there a reason for this or is it because they're two different brand bulbs and one older than the other

Both reasons.

This applies to fluorescent and HID lighting as well. Lamps will change color over their lifetime due to chemical changes within and different manufacturers will have a slightly different compositions to start with.

Just to make sure, you do mean "brightness" vs. physical level?

(For those who are picky :1poke: I put the quotes in because different colors do not really equate to different light outputs)

No they are not different colors. Shortly after buying the car, i replaced the factory bulbs with Sylvanias 4 years ago and after one went out I replaced it with the Factory bulb I took out. I am sure once I get a matching set in it will be fine. BTW today I received a set of bulbs from Rock Auto. I will let you know how it turns out.

I changed my bulbs after 2 years just because the halogen filament dims over time. I believe I paid 15 bucks for 2 Sylvania Xtravision bulbs on Amazon. It made a big difference.

Resolved! I put new bulbs in an they are even now. My only problem came when trying to unplug the socket from the bulb. I broke the clip that holds the socket to the bulb. This had happened before, someone spliced a new plug on the passenger side of my car. The way I am seeing it the entire area is stable and secure and it seems there is little likeliness of the plug coming off as the plug is long and rather "snug". Just no retaining clip.
