A few weeks ago I brought my 14 Cruze Diesel (74K miles) to an autobody repair shop for a fender bender repair which took a few weeks. Today I went to pick up the car but on my way there, the owner of the shop calls me and says hes got good news and bad news... the good news is the body work turned out great... the bad news is the car wont stay running. He said it started up great but a few seconds later shut off. When I got there the bodywork looked great, which made the fact that the car wont start more painful. The car didnt run at all for two weeks so how could it not start now if it ran perfectly when I dropped it off? So I asked him if I could hear it turnover and I gotta tell ya, it sounded pretty bad. I could hear the starter motor turning the engine over but it fired only a few times. Like there was no compression in the cylinders just free spinning. I am totally floored at this because the car ran as good as always when I dropped it off. It looks like I have to have it towed from the bodyshop to the dealership for an expensive repair job. Ive been reading some posts where the EGR valve caused similar problems. Seems to be a common problem with the CTD's. Has anyone clean their EGR Valve? Just wondering where its located and if it was easy to remove, clean and reinstall.
