This may be in the wrong section here, wasn't sure where to put so please move it if necessary but I have a weird issue going on with my 2011 Chevy Cruze LTZ. It first started a year ago, the cruise control would randomly shut itself off without hitting the brake pedal or a bump in the road etc. It wasn't until a few months ago that I noticed that when it happens, my brake light on the rear windshield lights up (and i'm not pressing the pedal). Its almost like the chip is telling the car i hit the pedal and to disengage the cruise. Sometimes it does it a lot, sometimes it doesn't do it at all. Its not measureable, literally random. Any clues to what it may be or what may be causing it? Seems like a sensor or a computer/electrical issue. My "service airbag" light and dash notifications go nuts constantly too. I'm a novice when it comes to most car repair stuff, other than the normal maintenance things so any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The cruise/brake light issue might be a problem with the brake light switch, but the rest sounds like negative battery cable trouble. Address the negative cable and see if the cruise fixes itself.

Is that brake light switch hard to change? something I should have the dealership fix? The negative battery cable could be causing the Airbag issue? How is that? Thanks for the insight.

Failure of the connection between the cable and the crimped on terminal causes all sorts of electrical weirdness.

It looks like I mislead you concerning the brake lights, Cruze doesn't have a switch, it has a brake pedal position sensor. Considering the fact that it's a computer sensor and not a simple switch, that leads me right back to the battery cable failure above.

Agree with @Taxman totally.

Just a side note/additional possibility, my 09 Jetta TDI had intermittent CC. Dealership found a mouse/rat had chewed into the wire harness near the firewall causing the brake lights to short, thus triggering CC to cancel.

The car had recently spent time in an RV Park, guessing a local rodent found a nice warm motor compartment rather attractive.
