I have a 2011 1.4 that needs a new head gasket. I found a short block from a 2012 1.4 for a great price. Doing some research online, it seems like they might not be compatible. Does anyone know the difference if any? Will it work?

No difference - they are both LUJ motors. LUV revision dropped in 2013, and the only difference was a couple sensors. You can really use any year up to a 2018 Encore LUV.
