Hi All
I am new, I have a 2012 chevy cruze, the steering wheel controls for my blue tooth and radio just stopped working all of a sudden.I want to attempt to fix on my own, does anyone know how to remove the steering wheel cover without setting off my airbag, can I just remove the plastic knobs for the controls? are there any you tube videos where I may be able to watch and learn.

Thank You

Welcome to the forum, sometimes if you disconnect the negative battery terminal for 10 minutes or so and then reconnect it things start working again. Not a guaranteed fix, but quick and cheap to try as this resets the computer, just like rebooting a lap top.
does anyone know how to remove the steering wheel cover without setting off my airbag,
The factory manual recommendation, when working around the airbag is to disconnect the battery.
Always disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system when working with or near anything connected to the SIR. The system maintains reserved power in case the battery is disconnected during a crash. The power is available for several minutes after the battery is disconnected. Wait at least 2 or 3 minutes after disconnecting the battery before working near any of the SIR systems.

It might not be the switches, especially if they all stopped working at the same time. There are many things that could cause the switches to stop working. The switches connect to a series of resistors and the airbag coils and then they go to the Body Control Module. Depending on the resistance, the body control module knows which switch was pushed. On a 2014 Cruze, the wires for the switches and air bag coil go to pins 8 and 4 of the BCM connector X3 (green). I don't know for sure, but it might be possible to test them at this location. It could be possible to break the BCM or deploy the airbags, or cause a lot of other damage by messing with these wires.

Welcome to the forum! If you can't find any youtube videos on what you're looking for you should make one for anyone else in the future looking to do the same thing, good luck!
