Hi all. A few months ago I was driving on the interstate going about 85 and suddenly the dashboard starting losing power, all the lights were blinking and the digital speedometer was spastically changing to every which number. The car would not accelerate at first, then slowly picked up speed and was then was running normally after reaching about 30 mph... but this happened a few times within 5 minutes. I left the car off for about a day and the next day the check engine light was off and the car accelerated like normal. This happened again this week, so I had it looked at by a mechanic and this is the note he gave on the car- "output speed sensor circuit intermittent. Monitored sensors, all reading properly at this time. Recommend replacing output speed sensor."

Has anyone else had a similar problem? The car has a little over 96,000 miles on it. about how much did it run to fix it? (Labor included). He is going to charge me about $630 and I'm not too familiar with cars so I don't know what's reasonable. Thank you.

Yes, I faced the same. Rpm goes 3000 but transmission not shifted, door also not locked and sometimes speedometer doesn't changes sometime shifts but only in second or third gear. But sometimes it works properly.
Engine light remains on.
Is it really speed transmission output sensor fault?

To replace that speed sensor is a PIA. You have to take the valve body out of the transmission.
