2013 1.4 litre turbo oil leaking from top of motor

I noticed oil spots on my drive way and thought it was from someone else's car, then I started smelling burning oil so I did a little investigating. Low and behold the front of my engine was covered in oil. It appeared to be leaking from the front and around to the left side from the top. I looked down and saw oil sprayed everywhere. Took it to the dealer and after not hearing anything for a day and a half I called to see what was going on. Of course he was "just getting ready to call me" which seems to happen alot here. He told me they found the leak and it was not only going to cost me $60 to diagnose the problem but another $250 to fix it. I said wait a minute, you're telling me this isn't covered under the power train warranty? He had to call me back to check and see if it was, which it was.
First, why am I paying $60 for them to figure out what the problem is on a car still under warranty?
Second, why wouldn't he check to see if it was covered under the warranty before he was "just getting ready to call me". They were just going to charge me $310 if I didn't question it? I'm about done with this car, with Chevrolet, and this dealership.

I agree on the dealership issue. Nobody seems to care anymore about the customer just their paycheck. People don't even know their job anymore either.
Crappy dealership - they should have checked on the warranty before talking to you. Once you're out of B2B warranty many dealerships will charge for diagnostics but they should warn you when you take it in. Once they determine it's under Powertrain then there is no charge.
Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear about the issues, and that you've been getting jerked around. That dealership sounds like they're severely lacking proper customer service. Hope you're able to get this resolved, keep us updated.

You'll find these dealers on all makes of cars, not just Chevy. They wanted to make money on you, hoping you werent smart enough to ask about the warranty.

It makes me wonder if they would have billed both you and GM.
