I bought this car from Hertz in Nov 2015, with 48K miles. Have put 25K on it since with current mileage of 73K. Was driving on the fwy when overheating warning went off. I immediately pulled off the fwy and drove no more than 1/2 mile till I could safely park and turn off engine. Had the car towed to my regular service provider. They just told me the engine is fried and I need a new engine. Can't believe this. Would this be covered under warranty? Should I go to dealer? In shock that much damage can occur in such a short period.

Do you have the service records - both yours and the ones from Hertz? You're going to need them.

Depending on what went wrong, it may be covered under the power train warranty. These small engines do not have the tolerance for overheating that the old "iron dukes" could take.
Any updates on this particular problem? Hope all went well!

From a quick review of things MikeP joined, asked his question and never was seen again. I assume he didn't do too well at the Dealership?

Or, everything went just find and he just happily got on with life. Had he been getting the runaround, I think he would have returned to complain.
