I have had the infamous P0420 code pop up. I recently bought a BlueDriver Scan Tool to try and get more information on the matter. I have attached screenshots of the the code, the freeze frame data of when the check engine light came on, all of the available sensors that I can read using the can tool and a screenshot of the data that was either yellow or red in the mode 6 scanning. I would really like some help with how to diagnose the problem, how to read the live data (and what sensors should i be reading). I am by no means a mechanic, so i am reaching out so that i may get some insight on how to tackle and get rid of this code properly. I have cleared the code a few times, and it clears the permanent code and drive well for a while, and then the code just pops up again. If there is any further information needed, please let me know, i would like to provide as much data as possible.

I'll provide some feedback. However, if you don't know what you are doing, I recommend having the vehicle diagnosed by a technician in person.

P0420 is set when there is an unusual variance between the upstream and the downstream oxygen sensor ECM inputs. There are several possibilities for this. The issue could be a bad catalytic converter, bad wiring or a bad electrical connection, or a faulty oxygen sensor. All of which require diagnosis if you don’t want to just throw parts at it.
