2013 Cruze with broken flywheel after 30,000 Miles

I'm posting for a friend (He doesn't own a computer) I talked him into a new Cruze because of a great warranty and seemed to be a quality reliable car.
Well after just a couple of years he brought it in for service (he said it just didn't feel right)and after sitting at the Santa Barbara dealership for two weeks they told him the flywheel is broken and warranty won't cover it? it has fewer than 30,000 miles on it and he babies this car, it looks like the day he bought it. How can this be?? not under warranty??

Any help would be appreciated.

It's not out on miles. but almost for sure it's beyond 36 months. With those miles there's some chance of a goodwill warranty repair.
Flywheel is covered under 5 year/100k mile powertrain warranty, according to GM. Might want to have a talk with the dealership about that and show them the Engine section. Clearly shows flywheel is covered...

Warranty Coverage: Cars, Trucks, SUVs, Vans | Chevrolet
Contact GM on the forum or & if the dealer or any dealer will cut him some slack since he babies it.
You may also want to suggest to him that he report this incident to GM customer service.
The flywheel is covered by the powertrain warranty. The clutch pad and disk are not.
