Hello All,
I posted a few weeks ago about needing to get my 2014 Cruze diesel retuned... it was quite the learning experience. I got it tuned and it has been running very well - no more 'limp mode'/countdowns to worry about.
About 100 miles after I had it retuned the engine light came on - error code P02E0. "Intake Air Flow Valve Control Circuit/Open." After a bit of research I zeroed in on the EGR valve. To this point, the car was still running fine - at idle and highway speeds. I did notice some hesitation at first, but that seemed to disappear after the engine warmed up. I removed the EGR valve, cleaned off the soot with carb cleaner and replaced. I did that twice now. Each time, I cleared the error code and the car ran fine for about 2 days - but both times the engine light comes back with the same code.
I ordered another EGR valve and will try to reinstall to see if that fixes the problem. But I noticed 2 curious things as I encountered this issue:
1. When I first found the EGR valve, I noticed the wire was disconnected. It didn't look like it had slipped off, - the wire connector seemed like it had been disconnected and 'tucked away' from the EGR which makes me wonder if I had been driving it without it connected for the last 2 years (I've had the car 2 years - no previous issue like this). When I researched, I've read some folks will disconnect the EGR as a quick way to bypass it. But if this was what was done, that means for the last 2 years the EGR may have been disconnected and no error code.... Is that even possible?
2. When I disconnected the EGR to clean it the first time, I didnt see a gasket or any gasket gel between the EGR and backing plate. Seemed odd - but I initially reinstalled it as I found it without any gasket material. The 2nd time I removed it, cleaned it and reinstalled, I put a thin layer of high temp gasket gel to make a better seal. Still, the error code came back.
Any thoughts on the above?
