I have a 2014 Cruze LT 1.4, automatic with 52,000 miles. I received the dreaded PO299 code for underboost. The car was real sluggish and shifted hard. I removed the heat shield and found that the waste gate actuator arm retainer clip was missing. After speaking with the dealership who told me that, after some debate this is not covered by the powertrain warranty, I bought a new clip (GM#55589103) and installed. The car now seems to run fine but I have only driven it a short distance. The CEL is still lit but I don't think that I have driven it enough to reset.
I have a few questions if anyone can help.
1. are there any TSBs for this ( I could not find any)
2. what was the cause (rust, stuck arm)
3. would it do any damage during the short time the car was driven after the CEL came on (about 10 miles)
4. what parts of the turbo are covered under the powertrain. ( the dealer said that the external parts, i.e. wastegate actuator etc. are not covered)
5. has GM resolved all the problems with their Turbos for the 2019 model year. I am thinking of buying a 2019 Equinox but won't if the turbos are still faulty

thanks Dan
