Good morning all. My GF has a 2014 Cruze that has been giving her fits. Its the base model standard with no AC, and currently has approx 78,000 KM on it. So far it has had 2 coolant leaks and 4 oil leaks. They have replaced the head on it once, and resealed the heads and valve covers twice more and its now leaking again. The dealer doesn't seem to be able to correct this problem and to says it's becoming a royal pain in the behind is an understatement.

Has anyone else on here had this problem and what did you have to do to get this resolved? The dealer doesn't seem to be able to correct this and we've been looking on line trying to find any definitive solutions with no luck so far. Anything you can suggest would be greatly appreciated, as GM doesn't seem to be capable of getting this done.

Gaskets seem to becoming history, sealants are being used, like
[h=1]Chevrolet Performance Engine RTV Sealant 88864346[/h]Aluminum heads do warp, have to be tested for perfect flatness, if minor, can be resufaced, but takes special machinery do to this, needs practically a mirror like finish, because aluminum has seven times the thermal expansion of a cast iron block, needs to slide on the head gasket. And only new torque to yield bolts can be used to prevent future leaks.

Head should also be magnafluxed to test for small leaks, that cannot be seen by the human eye, average shop can't do this, actually the best thing to do is to replace it with a new one. If you also have coolant leaks, possible the head was overheated,

Hi Nick

The head has already been replaced once, and they are reluctant to do this again. The leaks have been been consistent ever since the car was new. So far it's been in 3 different dealers and the end result is the same. They fix the leaks and within a few months at most it's leaking again.
