2016 cruze 1.4L I-4 VVT DI Turbo
park in garage and can smell coolant near front of vehicle on cool down
level dropped roughly an inch from full hot over 3 months.
no visual leak
any thoughts?

I need to get time to get to dealer ship but wok like a bit of info prior to going

As you've mentioned - it needs to go to the dealer for a dye test and maybe a quick pressure test.

I'd suggest you make time for it in your schedule.

While I don't have the Diesel I'm not sure one inch of coolant movement is necessarily alarming during your break in period unless you see it leaking. I smelled coolant for about the first month in the new 2014 and then when the water pump went about 2 years later. Otherwise G.M. pretty much got around to isolating coolant vapor smells by the 2014 model year. Keep an eye and a nose on it!

I would agree w/ Tomko, you might want to make time to fit this into your schedule or it could turn into a more major issue, like overheating & ruining something & turning a small fix into a major fix.
