2016 Cruze LS AC always coming on!

I tried searching for an answer on here but found nothing.
Anyway, every time I start my car and turn on my fans, the AC light always comes on regardless if I was using the AC the day before. If I just want the outside air with the fans or the heat, I have to push the AC button to turn it off every time. I'm not using any defrost, just the floor vents and the vents on the dash.
Please tell me what I'm doing wrong! Thanks!

It may be a setting on your display, I don't know the 2016 cruze but I guess it has a similar display as the 2015, so check it out maybe you can shut it off from there

All my climate controls are physical buttons under the display, now when I change AC on or off. It will pop up on the screen as a notification then fade away. I don't think there are any settings on the display for the AC.

Same as mine, I have settings in display where I can control for example the remote seat heat, check it out, you have settings in your display for sure

For the Gen1, I think the floor vents will activate the A/C regardless of setting. You didn't say if you had the 2016 Limited (Gen1) or the Gen 2. The Gen2 might simply be more honest with you in what's going on.

Sorry, its the Gen 2. I turn the AC off everytime I start my car and turn on the fans but sure enough the next day I start my vehicle and turn the on the fans, the AC light is back on.
Try using the setting for just the dash vents - no floor. See what happens.

I'll try it tomorrow morning. I would now but snow is coming down an inch by the minute haha.
Mines the auto climate control system, but neither of the LTs I drove for almost a month or two did that. Once turned off, they'd stay off. Mine will activate the ac if I push the auto button again, but otherwise it remembers where I had it.

As others mentioned, might be vent position. Other thought - do you shut off the whole system every time you turn the car off, or just leave it on where you had it set? If you shut it off every time, try just leaving it on and see if it still does it.
On my '17 LT, if I turn the car off with the fan still 'on' and only heat, the car will start the next morning this way--no green A/C light.

If I turn the car off at night, and turn the fan off, the next morning, the green A/C light will come on the second I turn the fan on. Minor nuisance, but a nuisance. My wife won't bother to shut it off I'm sure.
It happens to me too if I turn my fan off and then turn it back on. I solve that by always leaving it at the lowest setting, but not off.
This was discussed in the hvac section under gen 2. All newer cars will turn the AC on when they feel the need
How do I know if I have a Gen 1 or Gen 2?
Red car at the top of the forum is a Gen 1. Blue/orange are Gen 2's.
