It may be a setting on your display, I don't know the 2016 cruze but I guess it has a similar display as the 2015, so check it out maybe you can shut it off from there

Anyway, every time I start my car and turn on my fans, the AC light always comes on regardless if I was using the AC the day before. If I just want the outside air with the fans or the heat, I have to push the AC button to turn it off every time. I'm not using any defrost, just the floor vents and the vents on the dash.
Please tell me what I'm doing wrong! Thanks!
All my climate controls are physical buttons under the display, now when I change AC on or off. It will pop up on the screen as a notification then fade away. I don't think there are any settings on the display for the AC.It may be a setting on your display, I don't know the 2016 cruze but I guess it has a similar display as the 2015, so check it out maybe you can shut it off from there

Sorry, its the Gen 2. I turn the AC off everytime I start my car and turn on the fans but sure enough the next day I start my vehicle and turn the on the fans, the AC light is back on.For the Gen1, I think the floor vents will activate the A/C regardless of setting. You didn't say if you had the 2016 Limited (Gen1) or the Gen 2. The Gen2 might simply be more honest with you in what's going on.
I'll try it tomorrow morning. I would now but snow is coming down an inch by the minute haha.Try using the setting for just the dash vents - no floor. See what happens.
Red car at the top of the forum is a Gen 1. Blue/orange are Gen 2's.How do I know if I have a Gen 1 or Gen 2?
2012 - Gen 1.Sorry, but I am not following as I have a 2012 Eco and a 2017 LT
