2018 Chevy Cruze Key Fob Issues

3245 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  snowwy66
Both of my key fobs died for my 2018 Chevy Cruze, & I replaced the battery in one, but not the other (only had 1 battery at the time). The car requested to program the keys, & after programming the two keys I have, it asked for a third....which I was never given.

The start will work on the fob, but when pushing to start the engine once inside the car, it keeps asking to program a third key. What’s going on? What do I need to do to get my car to start??

4. Press ENGINE START/STOP. When the transmitter is learned, the DIC will show that it is ready to program the next transmitter.

5. Remove the transmitter from the cupholder and press Lock or Unlock on the transmitter. To program additional transmitters, repeat Steps 3–5. When all additional transmitters are programmed, press and hold ENGINE START/STOP for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.

6. Return the vehicle key back into the transmitter
