I was trying to figure out what my 2016 is worth, so I did an Autotrader search on 2016, under 15k miles, keyword sunroof and found only five cars under $14k, and four of them were Limiteds.

The fifth one has me scratching my head. It's here in Michigan, private seller, black, Premier, Sun and Sound, RS, 7kmi, and they're asking $12,990 for it, which puts it way under anything comparable on Autotrader. They could take it to Detroit Mannheim auction and get more than that for it, unless it's got a rebuilt title or a very dirty Carfax. Makes me wonder why the VIN is 'unavailable'.

I would have to think that car has been in a wreck or something of the sort.

My thoughts exactly. That Premier has to be rebuilt, and even if it is it's not a bad deal if it was rebuilt properly.

I bought a bright red 2016 last week, hit in the driver's door, salvage title. 1/5 the damage my 2017 had, but my 2017 is clean title and the 2016 is salvage. I was thinking I could sell the 2016 for $11-12k with 12k miles and a new door, fender, seat belts and side curtain airbags, allowing for the fact that it has zero damage to non bolt-on parts but will have a rebuilt title and no factory warranty. It's the car I should have waited for instead of buying the 2017 last month, I'll have the 2016 on the road in a week while I keep looking for affordable parts for the 2017.

I think mine was some young lady's pride and joy, this car is super clean, not a door ding anywhere on it, and a couple of hair ties in the console. Even the floor mats are mint. But that car on Autotrader has 5k less miles on it, and it has Premier and RS, mine just has Sun&Sound and Driver Convenience AFAIK.

I would think a Rebuilt 2016 is worth about half what a used one with a clean title is going for? Here is a Certified 2016 Pre Owned Cruze for $12,999. How much was your 2016 Salvage?

Well I was proven wrong by others when I found a premier rs 2017 for about $22,000 and thought it was a steal. Apparently they can be had all day anywhere from $16-28,000 with less than 30,000 miles. And looking online proved this to be true, maybe not in my direct vicinity, but from dealers all over the US they're that cheap..

Not sure if you noticed but he does list it as still being under factory warranty, which it wouldn't be should it have been rebuilt. Sure he could be lying but we'll never know without a VIN.
A quick FB search of his phone number brings up this not exactly promising profile....also located in Michigan so it's definitely him. https://www.facebook.com/1hassanen
Eddy, that's a first gen in your attached picture.

Anthony, I've taken salvage VINs to the dealer to look at the service history and had them tell me they were still under warranty. BUT, if you actually try to use the warranty, you have a good chance of the claim being denied. My salvage dealer had that happen with a Taurus once. He took it into the Ford franchise for repair, they told him it was under warranty, he told them it was salvage, they insisted it was a warranty job, and then they called him two months later wanting payment after Ford refused the claim.

I will take the red car in for its second free oil change and an alignment check as soon as I get it legal and see if I get charged for the oil change.
