If you're wanting it make it look like a bowtie when it lights up, that shouldn't be hard. Just open it up and add some electrical tape to mask it off.

Go into your trunk to get to the mounting screws. It comes off and opens up pretty easily IIRC.

True. I do have leftover black vynil, maybe I'll just cut out a cool long bowtie or something and put it over it.

If you have enough to do it twice, cut the first iteration and stick it to the window on the outside. If it looks good and works for you, then go through the hassle of removing everything. I actually did the reverse, took every thing apart, decided it was to difficult to do what I really wanted and ended up putting it all back and pasted it to the outside of the window over the third eye. You can kind of see it in this photo.
