3rd to 4th gear jolting?

1072 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  AlainSDL
What could constitute or contribute to my RPM reaching higher than usual (usually it shifts between 2.25 to 2.9k rpm, but sometimes it shifts at 3.5k RPM), and a sudden jolt when the car tries to reach for 4th gear?

Almost as if the gear is stuck a little longer in 3rd.
Don't have it with anything, but 3rd to 4th gear.

Has the fluid ever been changed? If not, now would be an excellent time to do so. The AT fluid in Cruze transmissions should be changed every ~45k.
Apologies, I had written an answer, but it didn't seemed to get posted.
Yes, it was changed at 45k miles.
I guess I am replying to a very old post now...

I have a 2013 Eco with AT, 42K miles... I find that the shift from 3rd to 4th is very weird, for lack of a better word. Every other shift is nice and sometimes barely noticeable. But from 3rd to 4th it feels like it is lagging and it takes longer than every other shift. This does not happen when the temperatures are colder, as in 60F or colder. But once the temperature is 70F and hotter, and the engine is warmed up, that gear change is not nice.

I just had the fluid changed in hopes that it would make a difference. Not sure yet if it has.

Ugh, what I really wanted was a manual but there weren't ANY available within 300 miles when I bought my Cruze.
