I have a new 2018 Cruze. The auto stop function worked OK for 1 month. Two days ago while stopping at a red light my car got a slight hit at the back by another car. Since then the auto atop stopped working. Could this hit be the reason? Shouldn't there be some error code displayed telling the auto stop is malfunctioning?

Autostop does have an upper temperature limit at where it will no longer function as well, I believe it's around 110F. It also looks at AC inputs and things, so your area being hot could definitely be the reason.

There are many reasons for autostop to be inhibited, and it typically doesn't set a warning message. If you feel it truly should be working, get a vehicle diagnostic trouble code scan, to see if there are any inhibit reasons stored.

Does the autostop have any input from the rear parking sensors? If you got hit in the back and autostop quit working right after that, I'd look there.

Disconnect the battery for a minute or two, reconnect the battery, start/drive the car, and then let the car sit for ~3 hours (it won't shut off again until it's had this 3 hour rest period).

That should recalibrate the A/S system.

Where did you get this information from? Link?

Thanks! Actually I did not like the A/S function when it was working so I'm considering to leave it as it is IE not working permanently. Can this cause any damage to the car?

AutoStop is one of my favorite feature of newer cars. Silence and absence of vibration at every stoplight. What don't you like about it?

The vibration when it shuts down, and when it starts far outweigh what little vibration is created at idle in my car.

Mine doesn't vibrate when idling.

I can't tell the difference between running and not.
I can. It's smooth, but it's not that smooth.

If there's a noticeable thump on restart, there is a TSB out to replace the inner tie rods. Mine was muuuuch smoother after.
