Are you sure the two different radios aren't the Standard and Pioneer upgrade? I know I've seen two radio diagrams based on that.

I'm wondering if navigation always came with the Pioneer upgrade. (Meaning all navs had Pioneer, but not all Pioneer had nav.) Gotta go back to the RPO codes referenced in the schematic.

and also I think the firmware is different meaning even if all the wires are there and going the right places swapping anything still won't work,
Quite possible. Although a trip to a dealer should be able to fix that - as long as you have a feature combination that could have come from the factory.

I'm curious about what the extra connector is for - unless the nav is really in the screen and the connector is to forward the GPS data. It's going to be several hours before I can check my manual.

I'm pretty sure you can get a used nav radio on eBay for a lot less than that.

hm... the blue connecter is mystery
The manual called it "twinax" - a twin-lead coax. The icon suggests it's a display signal. It's unclear what's going on. But as I said (in another thread), the signals and their pin-outs are different between the two types. Apparently they are completely different systems - different designs - possibly even from different manufacturers - they just look the same from the outside. Even if the connectors fit, I wouldn't try it.

Sorry, I posted my answer last night into a different thread here

The thing I noticed in my manual is the first page showed radio and display - all well and good. But a few pages later it showed radio and display with UHQ (the nav feature). Completely different. The first page should have been labeled "without UHQ", but it wasn't.
