Good eveing everyone.

I recently installed an LED light bar into my car. I orignally plan to put in a simple flip switch but instead bough this
Vehicle Car Auto part Family car Subcompact car

Currently all the lights work off this that are already there ( headlights, fogs, etc.) But i want to hook my LED bar to it and run it on the 2nd fog light switch. If i go into the main Body control and hook it up there ( with help for a dealer or professional dear lord i dont want screw that up). Will i be able to "plug and play" or will the computer need to be taught what to do?

any help would be appreciate, i feel i have total explained it so any questions feel free to ask.

While it is a great idea, I think you'll be hard pressed to find a dealership willing to program for the second button in the U.S. If you are able to get the bcm programmed AND find the correct pinout from fuse box it'll work. It is far from plug and play tho

If you can find the wiring diagram for that model car, you might try it and see if the BCM already knows what to do. (Assuming that switch even talks to the BCM. Again, that would be in the wiring diagram.)

The other idea might be to hack up that switch and have it talk to some added relays rather than the BCM - the same as if you added a completely external switch.

I've seen you posted these questions in several places, not sure if you have already answered this, but have you just pushed the switch and listened for a relay clicking in any of the fuse boxes?

yeah, been posting around, and no it wont work, the harness has 7 pins, the new switch has 9 pins, i would need to add 2 wires to the computer and all that. still trying to engineer it not sure if it will work

To add some detials, i have a harness with a relay set up already for the light, i m putting a switch in to control that relay, the lines going tot he relay on the harness MUST have 12 volt power

What kind of switch is this? A push on/push off, or just a momentary contact (that tells the computer to change state)? I'm suspecting the latter. That would make it a little more complex. There are relays that work that way, but are hard to find. It would probably be easier to find a controller that uses a external push button to control it.

Here is a way to use 4 relays to convert a push button to a on/off function. Kind of clunky since it uses 4 relays. Seems like there should be an electronic module to do the same thing, but I'm not having any luck finding one.

But I'd have a careful look at those two extra leads. I'm thinking one might be for the switch and one for a light and it's not a case of the switch being isolated.

hey I believe that your two extra pin are for the auto adjustment headlights, I bought the same switch but without the auto adjustment headlight... and I have 7 pins... I tried every single wire behind the harness and none of them gets activated from the rear fog switch.. everything else works fine...
