The battery is in the trunk of my 2017 Premier.
To the left of the battery, is a large device.
Does anyone know what it is?

I'm guessing it's the battery for the stop/start.

I believe you are looking at the capacitor (super capacitor) that powers the 'restart' mode when the brake is released after a engine shutoff at a stop. The purpose is to extend the service battery life by reducing (or eliminating) the shock load it endures when the starter is energized.
