Hey all,
I just bought a slightly used 2k13 Cruze 1LT, 1.4, 6mt. It's got about 15k miles on it. Here is my very odd issue...
I was driving home one night and going up a hill I drive all the time. As long as I've got about 2k on the tach, it maintains speed up the hill with fairly light throttle in 6th gear. This time I was losing speed pretty quickly so I dropped to 5th, still losing speed, drop to 4th and floor it, and finally begins to slowly gain speed... Kind of felt like the turbo wasn't really boosting. So I pulled over, and started from a stop, put the pedal to the floor, and got the full fury of a 1.4 normally aspirated engine. I felt no boost, just a very linear pull up the revs, no stutter or anything, glassy smooth, just no boost. Pulled, over and started from first to try again... same result. Pulled over a third time, shut the car off for maybe 20 seconds, pulled back onto the road, and gave her some welly, POW, turbo and scamper back on?!?!? WTF was that? No codes, no cel, nothing. So I hit up the dealer, brought it in, and as expected they found nothing wrong and could not reproduce the problem. That was about a week ago, and car has been great except for percieved power variations, but it could be me being paranoid at this point. Then tonight, exact same problem, felt weak up a hill I travel all the time, and then went for a third gear pass down a slight hill, weak acceleration. pulled over stopped, and got going again, pedal down, and zero boost. Again, no cel's. Again, pulled over, turned her off for maybe 10 or 15 seconds, stated her back up, and BAM, boost and power! I'm pretty new to turbo cars, but this seems to defy all of my reasonable knowledge.
Any thoughts or has anyone else experienced anything like this? I searched several times here and on google, nothing. I'll be letting the dealer know again tomorrow, just for the record as I'm sure they won't be able to help again. Also worth noting, the car seemed to hit boost pretty hard and quick by around 2k rpm when I first got it, but when this began, it seems to hit closer to 2500-2800 rpm and hit a little less aggressively. Again this cold be a perception think related to me adjusting to the car...
Thanks in advance,
cheers,
Erik J.
