What did you find out with this? I'm in the same boat. Is there a way to install either from the bottom or the top without removing the bumper?

Bolt on mesh grille installation advice
I just bought a bolt on mesh grille for my 15 Cruze. I held the bolt on over the OEM grille and didn't like how I can see the factory grille behind it. With the screws and locking nuts provided with the bolt on grille, do I need to cut out the grille and attach the bolt on to the factory grille shell? I've watched YouTube vids to remove the front bumper but its a PITA to remove compared to my 15 GLI (︶︿︶)
