A lot of the reliability threads on here aren't very recent.

I would really appreciate input on the long term reliability of Cruzes in general and the manual ecos.

Hit or miss honestly.

My advice is to buy a 2014+.
This.

We're seeing some of the reliability trends now hit the later years too (water pumps, turbos, manual trans problems). PCV issues pretty much affect 100% of the 1st gen 1.4's.

Was just looking at the March Consumers Report this morning and 2012 was not a good year...

+1 on 2014+. 2013s are a close second because they got some meaningful upgrades like MyLink over the 80s green dot displays in the 2011 - 2012s.
