i was wondering what the break in period for the 1lt motor is, and if i should stay under a specific rpm range.

my subaru was a 1,100 mile break in and kept under 4500 rpm.

You might consult your owners manual. It's outlined in there. I don't remember the specifics, but it's something like no full throttle starts and keep it under 4k rpm for like 500 miles and you can't go over a certain speed and no downshifting for engine braking and keep your speed varied (no cruise control). But yeah. It's all in your manual.

I believe everything is spun by an electric motor in the factory so a crazy break-in process isn't need since most of it is already worked out. The one thing I might suggest is to do an oil change after about 1,000-2,000 miles - Do it yourself and watch it just to make sure no chunks fall out.

The vehicle does not need an elaborate break-in. But it will perform better in the long run if you follow these guidelines:
- Do not drive at any one constant speed, fast or slow, for the first 805 km (500 mi). Do not make full-throttle starts. Avoid downshifting to brake or slow the vehicle.
- Avoid making hard stops for the first 322 km (200 mi) or so. During this time the new brake linings are not yet broken in. Hard stops with new linings can mean premature wear and earlier replacement.
Follow this breaking-in guideline every time you get new brake linings. Following break-in, engine speed and load can be gradually increased.

Break in period is relatively simple with these. Only thing the majority recommend is changing your oil at 5K miles or sooner regardless of the oil %.
