Hey Guys,

I have a somewhat silly question. I been noticing my MPG were going down and just contributed it to me driving like a pissed off teenager. Then Friday my check engine light came on, and I got a code of P0171. It turned out being the PVC pipe in the car had a hole and was messing with the air flow of the car. Could the broken valve have contributed to the bad MPG??

Absotively! Search this site for PCV valve and you'll see plenty of information on the subject. There's a check valve in the intake manifold involved also. I'm assuming you have a first generation Cruze (3011-2016 Limited).

Yes ! I just had this problem with my 2012 recently. They replaced the camshaft cover (covered under powertrain warranty). Apparently, this would affect your mpg. Because the air flow is wrong, it affects the transmission shifting too.

Thank you guys. I noticed it being up there on the way to work today. Went from 25 MPG to 34 MPG with some traffic.
