Hey everyone,
so I wanted to ask those who already own a cruze, I currently drive an 06 altima with 7k left on it , a nearby chevy dealership is offering a 14 1lt for 20735 with 5k incentives. Im hoping they will apply that 5k to my 7k and take my cars trade in for about 3k. that leaves me with 1k to use down for a new cruze.

Now I've watched youtube reviews, checked out cars.com and the cars carfax, this vehicle has about 10k on it and it was used as a taxi vehicle to drop off customers when their vehicles were in service.

Having said that, Im hoping I can get the car because I actually love the cruze! Not only am I saving on gas, but my nissan needs a motor mount, AC system change, brakes, tires, the general big BIG maintenance at 130k. I prefer a newer compact car that saves on gas, plus the safety features are impressive. I dont drive hungry fast, or have a need for speed, just a college student looking to get a chevy.

My family will probably yell at me because they dont believe in American cars, however chevy has stepped it up. The sales person said he can get me into it, however Im not going all in until i fully decided

I wanted to ask everyone here a few questions:
1) basic maintenance costs?
2) insurance costs (I HAVE AAA), i currently 145 being a 23 year old male in CA (no tickets, accidents, etc.)
3) average gas mileage?
4) the general ride and feel of the car
5) overall appreciation

and finally, any tips on dealing with sales people. I know how much my altimas worth and I won't sell it for any less. Plus my credits shot (mid 500s) so i expect an interest rate thats between 12-15%. But you know any tips help! I really like the car the guy showed me online, its black, looks great! but i will test driving first!
So any help will be greatly appreciated

Thanks for the replies everyone!

to answer some questions
1) the car was the lots drive around car for customers who dropped off their car for services.
2) While I prefer getting an older model car, the incentives will drive down the cost of my current car
3) My University sits on a hill, i have to drive up there monday thru friday for work plus classes, and the breaks on this altima are killing me, plus my it chews up nice chunk of my gas just going up.
4) I have shopped around, I did find a credit union that pre approved me for an interest rate of 5%, which isn't bad given that I am still a college student
5) I havent given up on my altima, Ive shopped around at local mom and pop garages, seeing if there's anything I can do myself, however the price is still about 6k for total repairs, thats roughly the same amount left on the car.

6) that price is partly because i live in the SF BAY AREA, and every city on the east bay area side has higher tax sales, plus that MODEL's page states "All prices are plus tax, title, license, and documentation fee." I called and confirmed this as well. and the mileage on that cruze is 3,900
7) i got this altima because my green 98 escort beater which i still love, died at the used car lot when i went to go just to browse with my dad. that was the only car i could afford at the time.
