Not surprised at the review from C&D. We test drove a Civic and a new Focus, and we were not impressed with either of those, when compared to the Cruze. I left the decision up to the wife since we bought it for her, and she chose the Cruze. I was surprised at the comments she had after driving each. She noticed how the focus had a much harsher drive over small inputs like expansion joints and the seats were not as comfortable, she noticed that the Focus had a lot of engine noise in the passenger compartment that the Cruze didn't have. She noticed tire noises and the wind noise in the Civic. All this from a woman that can't hear brakes grinding or feel the tire vibration when a wheel weight comes off.

what do you mean?

they all have z-link except for the eco.
the ltz just has different rated springs and shocks.
Oh my bad, I thought the z-link was the suspension difference for the LTZ. I stand corrected.

In either case, I believe the LTZ would have put out better handling numbers and responses than the 2LT. I drove both, and the LTZ felt more solid and agile than the 1/2LT.

C&D Jan11 - LTZ/6A: 3206 lbs, 8.9 sec, 17.0 sec @ 82.0 mph
C&D May11 - 2LT/6A: 3170 lbs, 8.0 sec, 16.4 sec @ 85.0 mph
I wasn't going to bring this up, but as long as you've put the numbers up, here goes:

According to the two C&D tests, the 2LT was faster than the LTZ in every measured performance category. It surely can't be the extra 36 pounds the LTZ is carrying. I find it difficult to think that the weather could be that big a factor either. Clue this old road racer in, please.

From what I've read, it seems that higher ambient temperatures tend to affect the power output of intercooled forced induction cars more than naturally aspirated cars... this could be the real world physics of the intercooler operation, overly cautious OEM tuning, a combination of the two... ?
